Urban operations pose special challenges for safe drone operations, including the problems of command and control (C2) in environments where the high usage of cell phones and other communications systems can result in less reliable connections. Now, NASA and uAvionix partner to research the use internet-based infrastructure or air traffic control frequencies for C2 systems.

NASA has signed a Space Act Agreement with uAvionix for the development of advanced BVLOS Command and Control (C2) technologies for drones in urban environments.
