In the seizure of contraband and unauthorized items at Joyceville Institution, which the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is crediting “as the result of the vigilance of staff members,” over 600 grams of tobacco and drugs were located on the property of the multi-level-security prison.

According to CSC, the package containing the contraband and unauthorized items was seized on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022. CSC said they suspect the package ended up on the federal property as the result of a drone drop.

Items seized as a result of the interception included 205 grams of tobacco, 215 grams of cannabis, 132 grams of shatter (cannabis concentrate), 110 grams of hashish, and an undeclared number of cellphones and cellphone accessories, CSC said in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022.
