Very clever design from Nicholas Rehm. This tricopter has many modes. Taking off, hovering and forward flight all use different methods. In this video Rehm goes through the forward flight, which actually acts more like an airplane than a spinning drone.

In part 1 of this series, we explored this unique drone concept and demonstrated a more efficient way for a multirotor drone to fly by essentially turning itself into a tip-jet helicopter. In this video, we take it a step further and try out fast forward flight.

Welcome to drone day on the Adafruit blog. Every Monday we deliver the latest news, products and more from the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), quadcopter and drone communities. Drones can be used for video & photography (dronies), civil applications, policing, farming, firefighting, military and non-military security work, such as surveillance of pipelines.
