ORLEANS, Calif. — Firefighters and equipment are improving community protection along the southwestern, western and northern portions of the McCash Fire.

Some action being taken by firefighters includes a hose lay, building hand lines, setting up sprinklers, and removing fuels.

Overall, the fire activity was quiet on Friday morning and increased Friday afternoon as the temperatures became hotter.

On the east side, the fire moved at a moderate rate of spread into the Marble Mountain Wilderness.

Flames moved toward Cuddihy Lakes, consuming dead and down fuels.
