The show will be twice the size of any previous photography event in the UAE, with 200 brands, 60 leading photographers presenting their work and thousands of visitors coming together onsite.” says Simon Young, Exhibition Manager for Photography Live.

Where & when?

Taking place from 7-9 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Photography LIVE, the region’s only international event for the photography, videography and imaging industry, has been reinvented for 2016 and is set to offer a whole raft of new features, exhibitors, content programmes and product showcases.

Event highlights

One of the key features of Photography Live is its free to attend seminar offering which runs for the whole three days. With topics covering social media, portraiture sessions, travel photography, and a host of others, the seminars appeal to photographers of all ages and skill sets. Confirmed speakers for the 2016 edition include Beno Sarazdic, Daniel Cheong and HIPA judge Martin Graeme-Dunn. Concerning drones, Pejman Ghorbani, a speaker from Advanced Media will be talking about ‘Best Practice in Aerial Photography’.

What’s new?

One of the many new initiatives this year comes in the form of paid workshops. Covering various topics over the three days, one of the highlight workshops is ‘The Business of Photography’, where attendees can learn the business planning and commercial aspect of running a photography business, as well as how to how to market and sell their work and how to ensure different types of shoots are economically viable. Other new features this year include a live studio where visitors are given a platform to try out what they have learnt from attending the seminars, with professionals on hand to help, and a Photographers’ Lounge perfect for networking with likeminded professionals and enthusiasts.

Who to expect?

Highlight companies that visitors can expect to see at the show include, Canon, Nikon, FujiFilm, Sony, PhaseOne and Hasselblad, DJI along with hundreds of other brands, bringing products not seen in the region before.

Why is this all happening?

Simon Young, helped spearhead the transformation of the event, and recognises the need for a regional photography platform covering all aspects of the profession. “The photography community in the Middle East is really vibrant, with small events being organized on a weekly basis by really active groups, and many photographers creating incredible images. We are giving these different groups a place to come together; to meet, learn and find great new products” added Young.
